Tannery Pond Center presents our Community Day: Outdoor Show
Saturday, September 23 | 11 AM - 5 PM | FREE
Gather with hunters, fishermen, trappers and people of the Adirondacks. Explore vendor booths including taxidermy, fly fishing, rafting, outdoor guides, gun safety, and kids' activities. Bring your whole camp, your family, your friends and celebrate the culture and camaraderie with live music, craft beer, food trucks, and a chili cook off! We also will have a raffle where you can win great prizes.

Event Parking & Shuttle Service
Event Parking is as follows:
All handicaped and library customer parking will be in the library parking lot.
All vendor and guest speaker parking will be in the gravel lot behind town hall.
All event guest should park at the Johnsburg Central School and either:
Walk from the school to the event OR
Tannery Pond Center is providing a complimentary shuttle back and forth between the school and Tannery Pond
We ask for your cooperation in these parking restrictions so that we can have a great event.
There is NO parking on Main Street between North Creek Bridge and intersection of Main Street/28N in front of Tannery Pond Center. There is NO parking along the corner lot on 28N as this is where the food vendors will be parking.

Chili Cookoff Details
All home and professional chefs are welcomed to submit an entry. Tasting will be from 2-4 PM with the announcement of winners at 4 PM. Cost to taste is $10/person for unlimited tasting and 3 tickets for voting. To see our Chili Cookoff Flyer, click HERE - please feel free to post and share.

Raffle
We will have a raffle all day. We are working on securing all our raffle prizes. Our big raffle items are a mountain bike donated by Rick’s Bike Shop, a shoulder mount (value $950) donated by Naturally Wild Taxidermy, 2 Dell laptops donated by a local supporter, and a $150 gift certificate to The Gun Shop (THANK YOU)! We have smaller items available as well. Tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20. Tickets can be purchased at any time during regular business hours leading up to the event or during the event. You do not have to be present to win.
Music
We will live music outside on the corner grass lot. The following musicians will entertain us:

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM - Across the Pond, a Beetles tribute band
"The High Peaks Bluegrass Band” plays traditional, contemporary, and gospel bluegrass music in the New York Capital Region and Southern/Central Adirondacks. The band has performed at concert halls, community venues, pubs, music festivals, farmers markets, senior centers, and church services. Members Jeff Anderson (mandolin/ vocals), Tom Behan (guitar/vocals), Steve Butler (upright bass/ vocals), and Walt Kirby (banjo/vocals) have been performing together regularly since December 2016.
“Across the Pond" a tribute to the music of The Beatles has been pleasing audiences since 2008 on the big stage. The band's Beatles catalogue ranges from the early to later 60's and will be sure to get you stomping your feet and clapping your hands. ATP features 4 talented young lads from the North Country: Marc Vincent, Jonathan Newell, Tim Wozniuk, and Ed Jahn. The band's mission statement is: "No gimmicks, no suits, no wigs, just pure and natural Fab!"

Pat Salerno Jr. has been hunting whitetail deer since he was 12 currently on the TV Show Live The Wild Life with host Gus Congemi on the Sportsman Channel.
Melanie Sawyer - "History Channels ALONE Show: How wilderness Survival and Living History created her success & abundance in the Arctic"
Melanie Sawyer is part of the current History Channels ALONE Show. She and 9 other survivalists were dropped in the sub-arctic tundra of the Canadian Shield–home to black bear, wolves, and moose–enduring bone-chilling temperatures to last as long as they could with just ten survival items and enough camera gear to self-document their experience,
Melanie will tell you how she came to be on the show, How her knowledge of history during the 1700's here in the Adirondacks and wild foraging helped her survive when others could not and give you an honest and frank talk about her time out in the wild and then open up the floor to questions. Melanie will also bring some of her 10 items and examples of foods she ate and ALONE Show participant collector cards if you'd like one.
Everyone who registers for the talk will automatically be entered into a prize draw of one of her knives she loves to take when she goes out into the woods, a Browning Ignite, a knife, ferro rod combo, there might be a few fish scales on it from her last fishing trip but it's a sure fire handy thing to have and you could be the next owner.
Nina Schoch “Conservation Through the Lives of Adirondack Loons”. This presentation provides an overview of loon natural history and behavior, threats affecting loon populations, and the work of the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation.
Dr. Nina Schoch is the Executive Director of the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation, and has studied loons in New York’s Adirondack Park since 1998. A wildlife veterinarian and rehabilitator, she also has a master’s degree in Natural Resources/Wildlife Management. Dr. Schoch practiced small animal medicine in New York’s Adirondack Park from 1991-2002, is a member of numerous conservation and wildlife health related organizations, and has written many scientific and lay articles about the results of the Adirondack loon research.
Mark Usyk - "Why Stories Make the Cut"
Mark Usyk is one of those people who began fishing before he could read and write, and eventually read enough fish stories that he decided to write his own. With three books of stories full of life where fishing happens, and working on his fourth, Mark sheds light on the deep connections we have with our favorite past time, fishing, and explains how and why some stories make the cut...prodding others to write theirs.
Todd Waldron - "Upland Bird Hunting 101 - What You Need to Know to Get Started"
Todd Waldron is the Northeast Forest Conservation Director at Ruffed Grouse Society & American Woodcock Society. His responsibilities include habitat projects, conservation partnerships, and program development across New York and the six New England States. He is a native of North Creek, a 6th generation Adirondacker and is the founder & host of the East to West Hunting Podcast, a community that helps new hunters and anglers get started with their outdoor pursuits. Todd holds a B.A. in Resource Management from SUNY ESF and a Masters in Natural Resources from Virginia Tech’s Center for Leadership in Global Sustainability.
