The night will also include raffles!
The North Creek Railway Depot Museum will present Old Ski Movie Night commemorating the first rope tow in NY State. There is also an exhibit entitled “Ride Up, Slide Down” in the Widlund Gallery which you can visit before or after the movies.
The evening will highlight the 90th Anniversary of the First Rope Tow built in NYS by Carl Schaefer in 1935. The films to be shown include several produced in the 1930’s by William Gluesing of the General Electric “House of Magic” fame, and other members of the Schenectady Wintersports Club. For the first time, films from the museum’s Baroudi Collection taken at “Old Gore” on the 1946 T-Bar and old rope tows will be shown.
The films are historically interesting but also have many humorous highlights such as the clip “The Bear from Ride Up-Slide Down.” There will be free refreshments, great raffles, and door prizes. Come early to view our Early Skiing exhibit, and enjoy a fun evening!
