Artist Statement
There is this deception of ease with what is difficult to achieve. Fall folds into winter, where the leaves change from green to an array of color. It seems like it happens in a blink, but is actually a complex change. It is vital to life … to the continuation of life. The skier loses and finds himself, gliding and going into rhythm and connection with the steep curves of a mountain scape. The land has no beginning and no end. The dancer makes a story effortless out of hours of practice. The subtlety unfurls … we can self correct, redirect, and change with illusory ease. Soft pastels are the purest form of artist color, made almost exclusively from pigment. It is messy. It is fun. It is vital to life. Thank you for enjoying the movement of my work.
