Joe Newberry & Scott Hopkins are joining forces for the "Banjo Heartbeat Tour" in late February to showcase their love of the banjo and great tunes. Featuring Joe's infectious clawhammer banjo playing and his unforgettable songs along with Scott's unique 3-finger banjo playing, the show will be an unforgettable afternoon of storytelling, music and songs. The duo will double on other instruments, do a few solo numbers and throw in a barnburner here and there!

Scott Hopkins

With a public school music teaching career and a banjo-centric side-hussle spanning over 25 years, Scott Hopkins brings a unique approach to music and the banjo. Scott currently teaches 5-12 grade band at Duanesburg CSD with tuba as his primary instrument. On the banjo, he performs with his trio featuring originals, bluegrass, jazz and latin influenced tunes. He also performs with The McKrells and The Upstate Bluegrass Band, teaches at banjo and jamming camps throughout the northeast, and has a private studio of banjo students. A longtime and frequent guest on A Prairie Home Companion, he was a featured singer on the Transatlantic Sessions 2016 tour. In addition to performing solo, Joe plays in a duo with mandolin icon Mike Compton, and also performs with the dynamic fiddler and step-dancer April Verch. Joe has also taught banjo, guitar, singing, and songwriting at numerous camps and festivals across the US and abroad. Read more about Joe on his website HERE.
