Workshop Summary: Tomato and basil go great together on a plate. Did you know they also do well together in the garden? Join us for a workshop on companion planting. We will learn why certain flowers, herbs, vegetables, and fruits thrive better when planted near each other and why according to the research. The discussion will also include dealing with pests, attracting beneficials, care and feeding of mixed gardens. We will create a mini companion plant garden to take home. This will be fun as well as interesting for all gardeners- newbies and pros.
Instructor: Cathy Heideman is a Master Gardener for Warren County. She has grown all varieties of plants in many habitats as she has lived all over the country in the past 30 years. She is a native New Yorker and lived 20 years in the Boston area so is well versed in the north growing seasons and plants that do well up here and those that do not. She recently retired from Florida back to New York and is readjusting to the growing seasons she remembers.
