“Fragments of What Once Was” Photography by John Cropley

Modern-day ruins dot the landscape around us, some of them hidden and some in plain sight. I seek out these places and try to capture a sense of what they are now and what they once were, what they once meant. Some reflect only that fading past but others teem with new life as nature reclaims them.

JOHN CROPLEY is a New York City native and longtime resident of New York’s Capital Region. He has been a newspaper writer and editor for more than 30 years and a photographer for more than 40 years.
